On a Delta single leaver style faucet. Note some Delta Facets com with a plastc handle ball. When repairing your faucet, buy the brass metal ball. They last almost a lifetime. All part are sold both separately & in a repair kit.

Aug 20, 2011 - JB's plumbing show lol where did you get the parts, probably not home depot huh
007bondjb Says:
Aug 20, 2011 - Nope, at a plumbing supply house. But The H.D. & Lowe's has the part too. You have to know what model faucet you got. All my faucets are Delta single leaver type & all the parts are universal. Note they have Two (2) types of single leaver one that twist's or turns (normally found on tub & shower fixtures) & one like shown in video. O rings & seats are the same but the mixing ball & top parts are different. They can both have either chrome or jewel plastic handles.
007bondjb Says:
Aug 20, 2011 - They sell filters & water treatment equipment for that. Need to have a sample of your water lab tested before you would know what type to buy & install

Aug 20, 2011 - Some good info thanks man.
007bondjb Says:
Aug 20, 2011 - Always buy OEM parts for plumbing fixtures & faucets, they will cost more but. They don't last long. Bottom line?Don't buy cheap off brand parts! .Unless, you like doing plumbing repairs.
007bondjb Says:
Aug 20, 2011 - Yer welcome. Also note, tub & shower single leaver faucets can be either twist or lift also.Just zink faucets.Duel control faucets are totally different inside & none of the parts interchange with single leaver ones.

Aug 20, 2011 - I hear ya. Your video reminded me I gotta fix a leaky old Mixet shower valve.
007bondjb Says:
Aug 20, 2011 - Be very careful on tub & shower valves not to strip or cross thread the parts. If you do, You'll have to cut the wall open to replace the valve. They sell a special tub & shower valve socket wrench set for brands other than Delta. Take it from a Pro, they are worth the money not to have a wall repair & painting job on yer to do list also. Them brass parts are tight, corroded & soft, they will round off easy using a monkey wrench. You got a 1 time shot at removing the parts

Aug 20, 2011 - I have a whole house filter which is a 10 micron....the only other filter beyond that is a triple carbon block stand-alone filter for my drinking and cooking water. I have a deep artesian well and every time I get it tested the water testing contractors always tell me I have amazingly clean water. The Ph of my water is slightly neutral to about 6. I say the only thing I might suspect is a tiny amount of hydrogen sulfide. ( a pink tinge stain) on the bath basin drain.
007bondjb Says:
Aug 20, 2011 - Fail! take a sample to a lab YOU Self! Then Google drinking water standards for minerals heavy metals PH and many more other contaminates. Seems like you need a better purifying system

Aug 23, 2011 - Hey JB, Last time I tried to do home plumbing repairs I had to end up calling a real plumber out. He came out and said, "Whoever done this plumbing work didn't know what he was doing." I told him, "Thanks a lot." I got the problem fixed, almost fainted at the bill and realized I'm not a plumber! Take Care!

Aug 24, 2011 - My new one is American Standard, and modern rocket science has taken it a step further. The whole ball and valve assembly is inside a single "cartridge", with ceramic seats that're supposed to last longer than civilization. To get into it all you need is a 3/32" Allen wrench and a small screwdriver. But DON'T forget to turn the damn water off first. :-)
